This scene was supposed to be the original ending to Episode 1x03, but it was cut because it seemed more dramatic to end the episode with Cayden and Devon deciding to join forces to find Julia's killer. Now, fully restored, the scene shows the intricate relationship between Szymon Skubisz and his partner, Cecilia Nakamura, complete with her nickname, "Cici."

 scene one

“Cayden, it’s Detective Skubisz. Are you okay?” Szymon questioned as he stood in Cayden’s bedroom, outside the bathroom door.

A moment later, Devon James opened the door and peered out at the detective, but Szymon glanced past her, at Cayden.

“Are you okay?” He questioned.

Seeming somewhat nervous, Cayden stiffened up. “I’m fine,” he replied.

“You look pale,” Szymon said. “Maybe I should have someone take a look at you, just to be sure.”

“He’ll be fine,” Devon interjected. “I think he’s a little freaked out by the idea that someone broke into his home. Give us a minute,” she said as she closed the door.

Turning away from the door, Szymon sighed as Cecilia Nakamura approached him. “Hey,” he said as she eyed him carefully. “What?” Szymon questioned. “What is that look for?”

Cecilia simply shook her head. “You know what this look is for, you’ve seen it before.”

“You think I’m getting too close to the case, don’t you?” Szymon questioned.

“I think you know you are,” Cecilia responded.

“What makes you think that?” Szymon questioned.

“Because you dragged me all the way here because you heard something on the radio about a burglary. We’re homicide detectives, Szymon.”

“Yes, but this place is part of an ongoing investigation.”

“Which we’re investigating,” Cecilia reminded him. “You didn’t have to drag me out of bed, on our day off, to bring me here so that I would have to take shit from Devon James.”

“I’m sorry,” Szymon responded.

“And what is up with you and this kid?” Cecilia inquired. “Someone tries to choke him and all of a sudden you appoint yourself his savior and guardian?”

“It’s not like that,” Szymon answered. “I’m doing my job here. These people aren’t safe, not as long as there’s a killer on the loose, Cici.”

“I know, but I’m not sure if you’re actually doing your job, or if you’re interested in more than just finding Julia Taylor’s killer.”

“What is that supposed to mean?” Szymon inquired.

“Cayden,” Cecilia responded. “He’s a kid, Szymon.”

“I know that, Cici,” Szymon responded. “You think I don’t know that?”

“But that’s not it,” Cecilia continued. “I have a feeling about him.”

“What’s that?” Szymon questioned.

“He’s not telling us the truth,” she explained. “Did you see his eyes when I asked him what the burglar may have been after?”

“Yes,” Szymon responded. “He was lying.”
