 director's notes

It seemed that, for a while, Cayden and Szymon's scenes were all about misunderstanding and lost opportunities. I wanted to give them a scene where they could actually connect without all of the drama surrounding them.

 scene one

“I shouldn’t have drank so much wine. What time is it?” Cayden King questioned as he sat up to glance at the clock beside the bed. He squinted. The bright light was filtering through his bedroom window and it hurt his eyes.

“It’s almost nine in the morning,” Szymon Skubisz responded from where he sat on the chair beside the bed. “And you’re right, you shouldn’t have drank at all. You’re under-aged, but it was New Year’s Eve, so I’ll give you a free pass.”

Cayden smiled, reaching up with his hand to rub his eyes. “You stayed the whole night?” He questioned.

“I told you I would,” Szymon said with a shrug. “Just to make sure that you’re okay.”

“What are you doing over there, did you sit there all night?”

“I dozed off a couple of times, but for the most part I’ve been watching you sleep,” Szymon responded, with a smile.

Cayden shook his head and smiled. “Do I snore?” He questioned.

“Not at all,” Szymon answered, “but you do whisper things in your sleep, and some of it is kind of naughty,” he said with a grin.

“Oh God,” Cayden groaned as he threw himself back on the bed and covered his face with his hands. “I’m so embarrassed. What did I say? Was it bad?” He questioned a he sat up and stared at Szymon.

“It wasn’t bad,” Szymon responded. “You kept swearing at someone, and a couple of times you jumped like you were scared,” he explained.

“I must have been having a bad dream,” Cayden noted.

“So I got up from the chair and sat beside you and I put my hand on your chest and felt your heart beating,” he explained as he slowly got up out of the chair and crossed over to the bed to sit beside Cayden. He stared down at him.

“You felt me up in my sleep?” Cayden smiled. “You’re a bad cop,” he teased.

Szymon smiled. “I could have done so much more,” he admitted, “but I’d rather you were awake for that,” he explained.

“Me too,” Cayden agreed. “What else did I say?” He inquired.

“You said my name . . . a lot,” Szymon admitted.

“Then I must have been having a good dream,” Cayden noted with a grin.

“And . . . you said a bunch of stuff about sex. It was actually quite shocking,” Szymon admitted.

“What did I say? Do I even want to know?” Cayden asked as he closed one eye, but kept one open to stare at Szymon.

“Well . . . you said some things about me doing stuff to you,” Szymon answered.

“Like what?” Cayden questioned.

“Well,” Szymon said as he leaned forward to whisper in Cayden’s ear.

Cayden’s eyes widened as Szymon whispered all of the sexual acts Cayden had asked for in his sleep. “I said all of that?” Cayden questioned, slightly embarrassed.

“You actually kind of begged for it. It was kind of hot.”

“Then I must have been having a very good dream,” Cayden said.

Szymon glanced down at him as he lay in the bed with Cayden smiling back up at him. “What about now?” Szymon questioned. “We’re here . . . alone in your room. Am I the one that’s dreaming, or is it you?” He asked.

“I don’t know,” Cayden responded as he sat up slowly. “But kiss me quick before we wake up.”
