 director's notes

I missed Mason so much and felt bad that Sarah Mulberry pretty much used him and tossed him aside, so I wanted to make it up to hime (because I love my characters). This just seemed like the perfect way to increase the rivalry between Sarah and the girls while still allowing Mason to come out on top.

 scene one

Devon James stepped into the laundry room and shook her head when she realized that Sarah Mulberry was already there. Sighing, Devon walked up to an empty washing machine and opened it. As she shoved her clothes into the machine, Sarah watched her in silence.

Devon glanced over her shoulder and looked at her. “What?” She questioned.

“What?”

“Why are you staring at me? Don’t you have something else to do?” Devon questioned, slightly annoyed.

“I’m washing clothes,” Sarah explained, “My grandmother doesn’t want to come down here and she insists that I get out of her hair for a while, so I’m hanging out down here.”

“With the rats?” Devon questioned. “Seems fitting.”

“What exactly is your problem?” Sarah inquired. “You’ve given me nothing but attitude since day one. Did I do something to offend you?”

Devon shook her head and smile. “Did you do something to offend me?” She questioned with disbelief. “Since day one you’ve done nothing but act like a slut.”

“Excuse me?” Sarah questioned.

“You heard me? Do you get your kicks out of throwing yourself at guys? Especially guys that are taken?”

“I didn’t see a sign on Gage’s forehead. You’re not even his girlfriend for that matter.”

“According to who?” Devon questioned.

“According to Gage. He said so. He said the two of your weren’t a couple.”

“We are now,” Devon informed her, marking her territory, “so stay away from him,” she added as she turned to sit down and began clipping coupons.

“Fine, whatever,” Sarah said. “You can have him. He’s probably not even a real man anyway.,” she added as she reached for her magazine and flipped through the pages.

Devon rolled her eyes and stopped cutting her coupons. “Gage is a real man,” she said in his defense. “He’s kind and gentle and goes out of his way to make me feel special. You wouldn’t know a real man if he bit you on the ass, which I’m sure happens a lot, considering the fact that you give it up so easily.”

“Fuck off,” Sarah retorted as she flipped through her magazine.

“Whatever,” Devon replied as she went back to clipping her coupons.

At the door, Kathryn Hayes entered the laundry room and glanced around. “Hey Devon,” she said as she entered. “By any chance, did you see my blue sweater in here?”

Devon glanced around. “No, why?” She questioned,

“I could have sworn the last time I saw it was down here. Jesse and I were washing clothes and . . .”

“How is Jesse, by the way?” Sarah interjected.

Kathryn turned to glare at her, not realizing that she was sitting in the corner. “He’s fine, not that it’s any of your business,” she explained. Devon smiled at the fact that she wasn’t the only one who disliked Sarah.

“Wow, friendly bunch of people, aren’t ya?” Sarah questioned rhetorically.

“Well, stay away from Jesse and I’ll be as friendly as a girl scout,” Kathryn said with a smile.

“She’s after Jesse too?” Devon questioned as she stood up from her chair. “What the hell is your problem, are you going after every guy in this building?”

Sarah rolled her eyes. “Well, someone has to show them a good time, seeing as the two of you are so damned stiff and rigid,” she explained.

“Excuse me?” Kathryn questioned.

Devon chuckled with disbelief. “She does not know who she’s talking to like that,” she said as she took a step forward with the scissors in her hand.

“Oh please, what are you gonna do, get all ghetto on my ass and shank me?” Sarah questioned. “I’d like to see you try.”

Devon glanced down at the scissors in her hand and smiled. “Shank you? Are you stupid?” She questioned. “No,” she said as she glanced at Kathryn and smirked. “I think Kathryn and I are going to teach you a lesson that you won’t forget,” she explained.

Kathryn smiled back at Devon, then glanced at Sarah. “Not for a very long time,” Kathryn assured her.

“You see,” Devon said as she took a step forward. “We don’t like you very much,” she explained.

“The feeling is mutual,” Sarah retorted, “but don’t think for one minute that I’m just going to stand here and let you kick my ass.”

“Oh, I don’t expect that,” Devon said. “But you see, there are two of us and only one of you. So, do the math, honey. We’re going to make sure that every single day of your stay here will be hell for you, and we’re going to start right now,” she added with a smirk.

“Bring it on,” Sarah said.

“You tried to get with Gage and now I find out that you tried to get with Jesse? Jesse is one of my best friends and I’m not going to let you sink your claws into him,” Devon explained.

“Neither am I,” Kathryn agreed.

“And I heard about what you did to Mason. I don’t even really like Mason, but he’s Cayden’s friend, and if you hurt Mason, then you hurt Cayden, and if you hurt Cayden . . . you have to pay.”

“Oh please, Mason was nothing,” Sarah said. “He’s like a child, you have to tell him what to do. Half the time he had no clue what he was doing. So I tore up his number. So what? He’ll get over it.”

“Of course he will,” Devon explained. “And to make sure of that, we’re going to give you a reminder that it’s not okay to use people. I’m thinking we should cut something off,” Devon said as she stepped closer, scissors in hand.

“Oh, I like that,” Kathryn smiled.

“But what should we cut?” Devon inquired.

“Let’s cut her hair,” Kathryn responded.

“Nice,” Devon said as she got even closer, causing Sarah to retreat even farther into the corner. “Grab her!” She shouted. Kathryn lunged forward and held Sarah against the wall.

“You’re fucking crazy!” Sarah yelled as Mason Weber stepped into the doorway. “Mason!” She cried. “Oh thank God, these girls are crazy, they’re trying to cut off my hair! You have to help me!”

Mason glanced over at Sarah Mulberry and shook his head. “I can’t,” he responded. “I’m like a child, you have to tell me what to do. I think I’ll go and take a nap,” he said with a smile as he turned away and left the laundry room.

“No wait,” He heard Sarah Mulberry say as he walked down the hall toward the elevator and pressed the button. “Come back! I didn’t mean it. Stop it! Let go of me. No, what are you doing? My hair!!!” Sarah shrieked as Mason stepped onto the elevator and pressed the button for his floor, smiling.
