In bringing the season to a close, I felt that it was important to revisit the night that Julia was killed. I think it's important to know what happened and who found her body, plus it was a great scene between Jesse and Kathryn that explained how the two of them got to where they are now.

 scene one

“Jesse, what happened?” Kathryn Hayes gasped with horror as she stepped into the bathroom and saw him kneeling beside the tub where Julia Taylor’s lifeless body lay. “What did you do?” She said as she took a step forward and glanced around. Her eyes were wide as she took in the sight.

“I . . . I . . .” Jesse said as he held the knife in his hand. “She won’t wake up . . .” He added as he turned toward her. His hands were covered in blood and his eyes were filled with tears. He glanced up at Kathryn and shook his head. “I don’t understand what’s going on,” he admitted.

“Oh my God,” Kathryn said. “Jesse . . . put the knife down,” she said softly as she took a step forward.

Jesse Martinez glanced down at the knife he was holding in his hands, then glanced at Kathryn curiously. “It was hurting her,” he said softly, “I had to pull it out. She was in pain . . . it was hurting her,” he repeated.

“What happened?” Kathryn questioned.

Jesse closed his eyes and shook his head. He didn’t want to think about it.

“Jesse,” Kathryn said as she got even closer, “what happened? Why are you holding that knife?”

“I don’t know what happened,” Jesse admitted as he shook his head, “but we can ask Julia,” he said as he nodded his head quickly. “We can ask her when she wakes up.”

“Jesse,” Kathryn said as she crouched down at his side, “Julia’s not going to wake up.” She glanced in the bathtub at the body of Julia Taylor. “She’s dead,” she whispered softly.

“No, she’s not!” Jesse responded as he shook his head. “She’s not dead!” Kathryn jumped back as an excited Jesse lifted the knife into the air. “She can’t be . . .”

“Put down the knife, Jesse,” Kathryn pleaded.

“No!” Jesse yelled. “Get out of here!” He growled as he pushed Kathryn away from him and got to his feet, clenching the knife in his hand. “Get the hell out of here!”

“Jesse, please . . . let me help you,” Kathryn said.

“You can’t help me,” Jesse explained. “You can’t do anything. You don’t even know what you’re talking about. She’s not dead,” he cried as he turned toward Julia. “Look at her. Look at her!” He demanded, causing Kathryn to jump with fright. “She’s not dead.”

Jesse turned and stared at the lifeless body of Julia Taylor and fell silent. “She’s . . . dead,” he finally admitted after a long silence. The knife dropped from his hand and clattered against the tile floor. Jesse Martinez closed his eyes and shook his head as he fell to his knees beside the bathtub.

“She’s dead,” he whispered.
